Are The Steam Bar products Paraben and Sulphate free?
Yes. All The Steam Bar products are paraben-free and sulphate-free. We formulate with intention, avoiding harsh cleansing agents and unnecessary additives that can strip the hair or disrupt the scalp’s natural balance. Our focus is on gentle, effective ingredients that cleanse, soothe, and support long term scalp and hair health, especially for textured hair.

Can I use The Steam Bar products if I wear braids, wigs, or weaves?
Absolutely. In fact, they’re ideal for protective styles. Our Scalp Shampoo and Scalp Serum are lightweight, non-greasy, and designed to cleanse and calm the scalp without disturbing your style helping prevent itchiness, flakes, and build-up while your hair is tucked away.
Can I use The Steam Bar products on colour-treated or chemically processed hair?
For sure. Our products are designed to support scalp health and moisture balance, which is especially important for colour-treated, relaxed, or chemically processed hair. They’re gentle, nonstripping, and focused on restoring comfort and hydration where hair is often most vulnerable.
For how long should the Steaming Cap be heated in the microwave?
You can safely heat the cap in the microwave for up to 1 minute before placing over your crown for a therapeutic steaming experience.
Can I use the Steaming Cap with any deep conditioner?
The Steam Bar Steaming Cap is designed to work with any deep conditioner or hair mask you already love. Steaming helps gently lift the hair cuticle, allowing moisture and nourishing ingredients to penetrate more effectively, so your conditioner can do its job better.
For best results, apply your deep conditioner to clean, damp hair, put on your steaming cap, and relax for 15–30 minutes. Think of it as upgrading your conditioning step. Same products, deeper impact, more softness, more slip, and healthier feeling hair over time.
Can I steam my hair without washing it first?
For best results, we recommend steaming on clean or freshly cleansed hair so there’s no build-up blocking moisture absorption. However, light steaming between wash days can still help refresh the scalp when paired with lightweight products like our Scalp Serum.
How often should I use the Scalp Shampoo?
We recommend using the Scalp Shampoo every 1–2 weeks, or as needed depending on your lifestyle, styling choices, and scalp condition. It’s clarifying yet gentle, removing build-up without stripping your scalp or hair.
What makes The Steam Bar Scalp Serum different?
Our Scalp Serum is lightweight, fast-absorbing, and formulated to calm inflammation, reduce itchiness, and support the scalp microbiome. It’s formulated for daily or regular use; especially between wash days without weighing hair down or causing build-up.
Are The Steam Bar products suitable for sensitive scalps?
Yes. Our formulas are created with balance and care in mind, using ingredients chosen to soothe rather than overwhelm. If you have a particularly sensitive scalp or a medical condition, we always recommend patch testing first.
Do your products help with dandruff or flakes?
Yes! Flakes are often a sign of scalp imbalance. Our Scalp Shampoo helps remove build-up and excess oil, while the Scalp Serum works to soothe dryness and irritation. Consistent use supports a calmer, healthier scalp over time
